Each year the association recognizes and awards res- cue missions that are making valuable progress in innovative print and online communications. Awards will be presented at AGRM’s Annual Convention in Dallas. Regional Coordinators Begin Important Work Earlier this year, three regional coordinators began working with AGRM’s director of member engagement to connect with members and prospective members regionally. Each coordinator works with three districts to help with member recruitment and retention, situation triage, local leadership mentoring, and potential partnerships and funding opportu- nities that might be beneficial for missions in their regions. Look for these former rescue mission CEOs in your district, as they have already been very active in providing assistance and counsel: Ken Peterson (kpeterson@agrm.org): Evergreen, Heartland, and Sierra Districts Jere Shertzer (jshertzer@agrm.org): Great Lakes, Liberty, and Northern Lights Districts Tom Zobel (tzobel@agrm.org): Bluegrass, Deep South, and Rawhide Districts AGRM’s Annual Convention Promises to be a Special Event AGRM’s 2017 Annual Convention is quickly approaching, and the AGRM staff is putting the finishing touches on an incredible program. This year’s event features a New CEOs Immersion Course, an interac- tive prayer room, TED-Talk style gen- eral sessions, mis- sion tours near the beginning and end of the event, a worship-focused general session, a chuck- wagon dinner in our expansive Exhibit Hall, and one of the best lineups of speakers we have ever had. This stellar group of platform guests includes Bill Butter- worth, Tony Evans, Shirley Hoogstra (CCCU), Greg Jao (InterVarsity), David Kinnaman (Barna Group), and John Lynch (TrueFaced), in addition to powerful worship leaders. Of course, we’ll also have a full slate of education seminars in 12 tracks. The event, themed Strong Tower, will be held May 31–June 3 at the Hyatt Regency Reunion in downtown Dallas. This area, home to some of Dallas’ most iconic moments, is packed with history, restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Don’t miss this opportunity for edu- cation, inspiration, and connection with your rescue mission peers. The 11-city study showing the reach of faith-based organi- zations (as opposed to government or government-funded organizations) was presented at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on February 1. Numerous media outlets, government VIPs, and nonprofit organization lead- ers were on hand to learn more about the work of gospel rescue missions and other like-minded organizations. The study provided evidence that faith-based organizations are effective, shoulder the lion’s share of sheltering, and also save U.S. taxpayers a lot of money.
