Rescue mission chief executives are invited to convene at the enchanting and historic Glen Eyrie Conference Center in Colorado Springs—the association’s home base—August 23–25. This is a special opportunity for leaders to dialog on key issues and examine trends and opportunities ahead for the ministries they shepherd. District Meeting Dates Set They’re not happening until this fall, but be sure to mark the dates now for your district conference. Eight of AGRM’s nine districts will hold conferences in September and October. An AGRM staff member will be at each meeting to bring greet- ings and an update of what’s going on in the association. The calendar for these events looks like this: Bluegrass: September 19–21 Northeast: October 3–5 Pacific: September 21–23 South Central: October 4–6 Southern: September 28–30 Northwest: October 5–7 Midwest: October 3–5 North Central: TBD Members in the Mountain District are encouraged to attend the district event in their new districts (changes will officially take effect January 1, 2017): Colorado—North Central New Mexico—South Central Arizona and Utah—Pacific Wyoming—Northwest New Best Practices Released Two more sets of best practices for AGRM members have been pub- lished. In June, the association released practices for Fundraising and Financial Manage- ment. Each set of best practices was developed by a board of execu- tives from a cross- section of AGRM member missions. These principle- based publications are great resources to help new staff members and board members become acquainted with the “musts” and “shoulds” of rescue mission ministry. AGRM’s 2016 Event Helps Fortify Missions for Another Year of Ministry Some 1,000 people gathered in Jacksonville for AGRM’s 2016 annual convention. Themed “Counter Culture,” the event focused on ways mission staff can courageously counter culture by following Christ’s example in every way. By all accounts, the event was successful in delivering inspi- ration, encouragement, education, and fellowship. Thank you to our host missions, many volunteers, and tremendous speakers, artists, and presenters who made it happen. Next year will find our big event in Big D, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. With the entrance to the 561-foot Reunion Tower right in the hotel, we’ll use the theme “Strong Tower” to reflect on Psalm 61:3: “For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.” The dates are May 31–June 3, 2017.
