AGRM Mission Statement

AGRM exists to proclaim the passion of Jesus toward the hungry, homeless, abused, and addicted; and to accelerate quality and effectiveness in member missions.

Vision Statement

AGRM will foster and feed a movement of diverse, energetic disciples who will see the practice of hospitality to the destitute as both a catalyst for life transformation in Jesus and a fundamental expression of their Christian faith, thus propelling the church into the lead role in society's quest to alleviate homelessness.

Women with Children Hit Hardest by Slow Economy

High fuel and food prices, economic turmoil, and foreclosures are hitting single women with children harder than any other group, according to a survey of 22,000 homeless conducted last month by the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM). Women with children made up 66 percent of the homeless families counted in the survey, a jump from 55 percent in 2007 and the highest figure recorded in the last eight years...

Legislative Action Alert Update - 1/13/09

Intending to protect children from lead-filled products and phthalates (chemicals used to keep plastics pliable), Congress passed the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (H.R. 4040).
 

On January 8, 2009, the Consumer Products Safety Commission released addtional information regarding the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The clarification gives hope to resellers (thrift stores) that they will not be required to test products, but they are subject to other dictates of the law, as long as they make a good faith effort to remove recalled products.
