AGRM Fact Sheet


The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) represents 300 rescue missions and other ministries that minister to homeless and poor people in the inner cities of the United States and Canada.  Since 1913, AGRM member ministries have offered emergency food and shelter, youth and family services, prison and jail outreach, rehabilitation, and specialized programs for the mentally ill, the elderly, the urban poor and street youth.

 

PURPOSE                    w To serve local ministries with education, training and resources to more effectively care for the homeless and poor in their communities

 

w To start new rescue ministries and to help ministries develop new outreaches, to network internationally to assist struggling ministries

 

w To share the message of RESCUE with the world, to focus the attention of the church and the community on the needs of the poor

 

w To seek the spiritual wholeness of rescue mission
     workers

 

PROGRAMS                 w Mentoring program to help grow new rescue
                                          ministries

w    “How to” materials, resource manuals and education   
       programs

w RESCUE College to equip current workers and develop new staff members

w Rescue mission certification program – a management audit of the administrative and program functions of member ministries

w Annual convention aimed at education and training, networking and exchange of ideas

w Special focus groups for individuals working with urban youth, women/families, development, thrift stores, education and employment, and addiction rehabilitation

w      14 million nights lodging

w      26 million pieces of clothing

w      16,000 people graduate from mission rehabilitation programs
