| Content | Good morning fellow Mission Missionaries, I generally don't post a question but I've been asked to launch a Church Ambassador program here at our mission and I'm sort of having a disagreement in philosophy as to what the ambassador program is and what it could be. I was given no real direction expect for get 1 person from each church to be our "ambassador" to help disseminate info. we may have to our churches who are connected to us and possibly have them agree to coordinate a drive for us some time throughout the year. Our goal is to have 100 ambassadors by the end of the year. I am working w/ a list of our top 100 giving churches and weaving in other churches that are connected through volunteering but may not give a lot. Rather than just start calling random people from these churches and asking them to be our ambassador, I choose to call the churches themselves and ask the pastor who he/she thought would be a good fit. I also began to think maybe we needed to collect some data on the church and the ambassador such as when the last time the church volunteered, giving history, has the church/ambassador ever taken a tour, and have a back-up or alternative ambassador. My thought is that we want the ambassador to be someone who "buys into" the mission so to speak so that they can be more effective and have a desire to share the info. I can see this program being a new avenue for volunteers, donors, and even future board members. The disagreement is that my supervisor feels I'm making more than what it needs to be. I'm over thinking it and being too detailed and involved. She just wants names and contact info. now so that she can begin to send them emails now. She doesn't feel we need to talk to the pastors but that we should be asking those we personally know or for the churches we don't know individuals asking others that do know folks in those churches. My question is, are any of your missions doing a church ambassador type program already and if so how are you running it? What types of things are you asking of your church ambassadors? How did you pick or receive your individual ambassadors? How as the program helped further the work of your mission? What have you seen are the benefits or the draw backs to your ambassador program? Who over sees the program and what role does that person play in finding and interacting w/ ambassadors? What is your "term of service" for an ambassador? Do you have any literature that you give to churches that explains the program? Do you give the ambassador any literature about the program or your mission? I'm just looking for some advice as to what other missions are doing so that I can help myself and my supervisor come to some agreement as to how this program can be run and how it can impact the mission. Thank you for all your insights and for how you all serve God daily.
