Short-term Urban Missions Opportunities for Individuals

<body> <p>We are in need of staff for our summer program forchildren. The program is best described as a combinationof summer school and Vacation Bible School. Qualifications:Mature Christian with a desire to minister to urbanchildren. Must be a team player, willing to serve as aleader and be an example for the young people.Experienced working with children, preferably in aclassroom setting. Duties:Teach in a classroom setting - Bible, reading, math, etc.Supervise weekly field trips/outings. Visit in homes ofparticipating children. Oversee the work of a high schoolintern.</p> <p>Exalt the name of Jesus Christby providing activities and Christian leaders showingneedy children the love of Christ.Housing and Meals Provided Qualifications:A personal relationship with God, and a desire to work with children Duties:Be a Christian role model; guide and lead childrenthrough the camping experience.</p> <p>Gain valuable ministry experience by serving as a campworker for at risk children and youth from in and aroundWashington DC. Central Union Mission runs sevenweeks of childrens camp plus a few weeks of wildernesscamp for teens. Through it, people with an interest in inner city ministry can find short-term mission experiences with some very exciting ministries. Now in its seventh year, the directory includes both summer and year round opportunities for both individuals and groups. </font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial"> Probably the most efficient way to browse through this directory is to our new search utility. For best results, we encourage you to use two or three keywords or a phase that will narrow the search a bit. For example the words "homeless children California" will produce a set of links to ministries in the state of California that work with homeless children. </font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">A unique aspect of this directory is the fact that many of the short-term opportunities are actual paid jobs. And, most of the ministries listed provide housing and meals at no charge for both paid and volunteer workers during their time of service. A few require the participants to raise a modest amount of personal support.
