The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions has produced the Short-term Urban Missions Directory every year since 1990. This year it lists opportunities in over 50 different cities in North America. Through it, people with an interest in inner city ministry can find short-term mission experiences with some very exciting ministries. The directory includes both summer and year round opportunities for both individuals and groups. Probably the most efficient way to browse through this directory is to our new search utility. For best results, we encourage you to use two or three keywords or a phase that will narrow the search a bit. For example the words "homeless children California" will produce a set of links to ministries in the state of California that work with homeless children. A unique aspect of this directory is the fact that many of the short-term opportunities are actual paid jobs. And, most of the ministries listed provide housing and meals at no charge for both paid and volunteer workers during their time of service. A few require the participants to raise a modest amount of personal support. For most, however, the only significant cost of participating in an inner city missions experience is, transportation to and from the city where you will serve. The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions also offers many career opportunities in its affliated urban ministies. For career training, Rescue College is the AGRM's accredited, internet-based distance edcuation program. A certificate in urban ministry and a degree conpletion program - Bachelor of Arts in Missions with and urban ministry emphasis - are currently available.
