Dr. Robert D. Lupton
is a pragmatic visionary.
Nearly three decades of
frontline urban work have
produced in him a realistic
understanding of what can
and does work in the city.
His “re-neighboring” concept
has been reality-tested in
three inner-city
neighborhoods. Dr. Lupton
lives in Grant Park, an
inner-city neighborhood in
Atlanta. He holds a Ph.D. in
Psychology from the
University of Georgia, is
the author of Theirs is the
Kingdom, (Harper and Row,
1989), Renewing The City (InterVarsity
Press, 2005) and the
newsletter Urban
Perspectives: Reflections on
Faith, Grace and The City,
and is the President of
FCS Urban Ministries.
FCS Urban Ministries is a
Christian community
development organization
that partners with declining
inner-city neighborhoods to
bring about social, economic
and spiritual rebirth.

Dr. Victor (Vic) Pentz,
Senior Minister at Peachtree
Presbyterian Church,
Atlanta, will be our
Convention Bible Teacher.
Vic Pentz sensed a call into
the ministry through his
love of leading Bible
studies in college. Today

comes out in the way he
applies God’s timeless truth
in timely ways to everyday
life. Sprinkled throughout
his sermons are allusions to
his many interests: sports,
hiking, cycling, food,
travel, history, and popular
culture. Dr. Pentz is an
alumnus of Pomona College,
Prince-ton Theological
Seminary, and received his
doctor-ate from Fuller
Seminary. His many pastoral
experi-ences include
preaching to the President
of the United States,
serving as chaplain to the
crews of three space shuttle
launches, and running an
evan-gelistic beach ministry
to Southern California
surfers. Vic serves on the
boards of Presbyterian
College and Columbia
Theological Seminary. He and
