Opening in September 2012, the UGM Center for Women and Children is the first long-term, residential recovery center for women with children in Kootenai County. Based on the success of UGM’s Women’s Recovery in Spokane, the Center provides a warm, home-like setting in which to explore and confront the issues surrounding abuse, addiction and homelessness. With the love of Christ as the foundation, healing permeates body, mind and spirit, and lives are transformed from the inside out.
Rick Friesen serves Peacemaker Ministries as Director of Ministry Relations. In this capacity, he works with denominational leaders around the country, assisting them in developing a Culture of Peace within their respective areas along with consulting and assisting individuals and churches in conflict. He is passionate about helping people live out the Gospel in their everyday lives and learn to treat others as God treats them. Rick is a Certified Christian Conciliator™ and lives with his wife, Annette, in Billings with the youngest of their four children, Christina. Rick enjoys traveling and sharing the grace of the gospel wherever he goes. He is currently pursuing his M.A. in Biblical Conflict Resolution at Birmingham Theological Seminary.
AGRM President and CEO John Ashmen will be with us Thursday morning, sharing the most recent report from AGRM. Previously, John was vice president of Christian Camp and Conference Association, a league of faith-based hospitality and recreation venues in the U.S. He holds a B.S. in Bible with a Social Work emphasis, and an M.A. in Organizational Management. His writings have appeared in numerous books, journals, and websites, and he teaches college courses and ministry management seminars around the world. His recent book, Invisible Neighbors, is available from Cross Section. John and his wife have three children and two grandchildren.
Special ActivityThe Coeur d'Alene area is surrounded by dozens of lakes left behind by the glaciers of the ice age, but none more scenic and full of activities than Lake Coeur d'Alene itself. This event is free of charge. If you'd like to donate to help offset the costs involved, we suggest $15 per person.
