Boise Rescue Mission Wins Important Legal Victory in Ninth Circuit
Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sep. 19, 2011)—AGRM is pleased to announce that earlier today the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued its decision in the Intermountain Fair Housing Counsel v. Boise Rescue Mission case and unanimously affirmed that the Fair Housing Act's religious exemption protects the Boise Rescue Mission from the plaintiffs' claims. The three-judge panel agreed that the mission has the constitutional right to determine its own religious purpose in how it serves the poor. This is an important win for all rescue missions and other faith-based shelters. More information on this case can be found on The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty website. AGRM will circulate any additional information about this case as it becomes available.
