Members Discussion List Guidelines

The AGRM Members E-mail Discussion List is exclusively for individuals who are members of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions or are employed by a member ministry.

To keep things organized, subscribers are asked to observe these simple  guidelines:

1)  This discussion uses an automated listserver.  Any message sent to the list's e-mail address is automatically forwarded to almost 300 other city mission workers around the world. So, be sure to only use this e-mail  address for messages intended for everyone on the list.

2)  Include a brief 3-5 word description of your message in the "Subject"  field of your e-mail program. And, when using the "Reply" feature, to send a message to the listserver, be sure to change the "Subject" field if you are introducing a new  topic. This is especially important because an  archive of this list's proceedings is being kept according to topic.

3)  Please do not use the list address to send messages to staff members of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. If you do not know an individual staff members e-mail address, you may simply use "agrm@agrm.org" and type his/her name in the "Subject" field and it will be forwarded to them. You may also contact them through our web mail interface.

4)  To send a reply to a specific individual who posts to the agrm-list, please use their personal e-mail address. These appear in the header of messages sent from the listserver.

5)  Please do not send binary attachments with your messages, such as formatted word processing documents, to the AGRM E-mail Discussion List. We have subscribers who get their e-mail from many different types of servers, including some which DO NOT support the receiving of attached  files. Instead, we ask you to always insert plain ASCII text into the body of your e-mail messages sent to the list. This can usually be done with a simple "copy and paste" with most  e-mail programs.

6)  If you want to remove yourself from this conference, send a message to the unsubscribe address that appears within every message from the list. It will look something like this:

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:leave-agrm-list-210342G@XC.Org>

(Please do not use this example, since each address is personalized to relate to your subscription only.)

7)  Please note, this list is not edited, so any opinion expressed or  information conveyed is solely that of the poster of the messages you will receive.

8)  Please sign your postings to the list. We ask that you include, at minimum, your name, position, the rescue mission where you work, and the city where you live. This adds a more personal touch to your messages received by list participants - and adds credibility to your opinions.

9)  Using our web-based list interface allows subscribers to manage your subscription, search past messages, and send new messages to the list from a web browser. This service is available only to current subscribers and is password protected. When you log in for the first time, you will need to request that your password be e-mailed to you.

10) We ask all participants to also abide by the following guidelines:
  • This list is for primarily for communicating ideas, needs, and issues related to rescue mission ministry. We encourage all members to avoid political, doctrinal, social, technical, and personal issues that do not have a direct relation to this purpose.

  • Use of this list for fund raising or other commercial purposes is strictly forbidden.

  • We will not personally attack another due to differing views or behavior. (Matthew 18 doesn't exempt the Internet).

  • We will stick to the issue and not "spiritualize" as if those  who have different opinions are in Biblical violation.

  • "Love the brethren" will be the theme of our discussions, and whatever we relate, we will make that our foremost  concern.

  • Please do not forward messages from other e-mail lists to the AGRM lists.  Express your own thoughts and opinions and use only limited quotes if they can be useful to other list subscribers..

  • Do not forward web pages to the lists.  Instead, provide your comments about a particular topic and include a link to the web site in your e-mail message.

If you get your mail via AOL or Juno, be careful about changing your  subscription to receive daily digests. If the list's traffic in one day exceeds your single-message size limit, those messages will be rejected at AOL's or Juno's Internet email gateway, and you won't receive any messages from the list at all.

E-mail is a powerful medium for networking. So, I encourage you to take full advantage of this unique means of communicating your ideas and needs. So, if you have a prayer request, need some input on a certain issue you might be facing, or have something special to share that you feel would be of interest to the entire AGRM family, send it to the discussion list.

I trust that your participation in the AGRM Discussion List will be a great blessing to you. May God continue to lead you and guide you as you serve Him!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the list.

For more information, contact Michael Liimatta , AGRM's Director of Education.

NOTE: Participants in the CEO's discussion list must use an e-mail address that is theirs alone - and not shared with other members of the mission's staff.
